Step-by-step instructions

  1. 01

    Check the site's scope

    #

Reload the target and open another trusted site.

Reloading may discard page input. Save it first, and record whether the connection ended immediately after sign-in, during file upload, or during ordinary browsing.

Open a new Incognito window with ⋮ > New Incognito window and paste the same URL. Failure only in a normal window narrows the cause to an extension or stored site data.

  2. 02

    Check the device scope

    #

Open the target URL on another device on the same network. If every device fails, prioritize the network.

If another device also fails only on the same site, investigate the site or communication path before reinstalling Chrome. Also test another trusted site and record the comparison.

  3. 03

    Update Chrome

    #

Open ⋮ > Help > About Google Chrome, update, and restart.

After updating, use Relaunch and access the affected URL again. If Chrome reports that updates are managed by the organization, do not change update settings; ask the administrator.

  4. 04

    Re-establish the network

    #

Reconnect the PC and Wi-Fi. If all devices are affected, restart the router through the proper procedure.

Restarting the router affects other users. Even at home, confirm that no meeting or transmission is active and follow the manual's power-cycle procedure. Do not confuse this with factory reset using the Reset button.

  5. 05

    Check managed layers

    #

Give VPN and security-product logs and timestamps to the administrator, and compare an approved alternate network.

If the security product has a block history, match it to the time and site. Do not disable the product to establish access; ask the authorized administrator or vendor to review a false positive or organization rule.

Check the result

  • The page opens without the connection ending
  • Device and network comparison identifies the likely layer

If the problem continues

  • If only one site fails, contact its operator
  • If every device fails, consult the network administrator
