Editorial policy and sources
What we publish
FaultNote is an independent reference for PC troubleshooting, useful apps, Windows features and practical tasks. Comparison guides explain suitability, storage, compatibility and limitations, with links to official downloads and documentation. General guides describe diagnostic procedures. Incident reports describe affected versions and a documented fix or workaround. A general guide does not mean a product currently has a widespread outage.
Sources and verification
Articles link to official manufacturer documentation. The source check date records when documentation was reviewed, not when an incident began. Menu labels can vary across releases. We do not claim every procedure has been tested on every supported device. If documentation does not confirm a fix, we do not label the issue resolved.
PC parts and value rankings
Specifications come from manufacturer documentation, prices and stock from retailer product pages, and performance from the publication that conducted the measurements. Articles state the price-check date, benchmark update, candidate set, workload or resolution, and calculation method.
We distinguish external measurements from our own tests and keep incompatible benchmark suites out of a single ranking. Platform and accessory costs can affect the buying decision. A price-efficiency ranking is not a universal recommendation for every workload.
Writing and translation
AI tools assist with research, drafting and translation. English pages are translated from their Japanese counterparts, retaining the conditions, precautions and source links. Content checks validate article structure and matching identifiers; these checks are not a substitute for testing on affected hardware.
Advertising and affiliate links
FaultNote participates in the DLsite affiliate program. Links marked as advertisements may earn us a commission when a purchase is made. We display DLsite’s official 7-day ranking widget. Products and their positions follow the content supplied by DLsite. Ranking inclusion does not guarantee quality or earnings; check prices and license terms on DLsite. Commissions do not change our troubleshooting findings.
